Biography

Julessa Scofield is a metalsmith living in Morganton, North Carolina, and works in her private studio in her home. She has been a practicing metalsmith for 20 years and loves to help and inspire others with her work and experience.

She completed her Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Jewelry and Metal Arts at Academy of Art University in May 2019. In 2015, she won “Best in Category” in the Academy’s Spring Show for her ring series titled “The Hunt.”

The Society of North America Goldsmiths chose her piece, “Heart Armor,” to walk the runway during their annual Exhibition in Motion in Portland, Oregon, in May 2018.

Her hand engraving work is also featured in the publication JaMS: Jewelry and Metals Survey 2018 in which she hand engraved tailpipes and accessories for a custom motorcycle. She finished her master’s thesis project titled “Identity” in the Spring of 2019.

Julessa is an avid motorcyclist and is in the process of working on a new series titled “MotoWoman” where she tells the stories of her open road experiences.
